Project description

This project will deliver upgrades to support the dairy industry supply chain in south-west Victoria by providing improved access and safety for High Productivity Freight Vehicles. These upgrades will be targeted towards key freight routes including Cobden-Warrnambool Road, Cobden-Stonyford Road, Camperdown-Cobden Road and associated feeder roads.

Benefits

This project will provide a safer and more efficient road network for the dairy industry in south-west Victoria. Upgrades will improve access and safety for High Productivity Freight Vehicles and other agricultural and industrial traffic travelling between farms, depots and processing facilities. Improving the quality of the road network is crucial to supporting the ongoing competitiveness of the industry, will ensure local residents can safely share the road network with the growing dairy industry, and will deliver social and economic benefits for communities in the region.

Funding

The Australian Government is contribution $17.5 million towards the $34.9 million project, with the Victorian Government contributing $17.4 million.

Timetable

The project is expected to commence major construction in late 2025 and reach practical completion in mid-2026.
