Project description

Three Chain Road is an unsealed collector road facilitating residential and agricultural traffic. With the current increase in development in Elliott Heads and Coral Cove, the traffic demand on this east-west connector is forecasted to significantly increase. There are significant ongoing maintenance costs associated with grading and resheeting as the traffic volume using the road increases.

The proposed sealing of Three Chain Road will significantly improve safety for road users by providing an improved wearing surface. The sealing of the roadway will dramatically reduce expensive ongoing maintenance.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
