Project description

Birthamba Road is a narrow sealed road (5.5 – 6.3m wide) facilitating over 800 vehicles per day including school buses, posing significant safety risks to road users. There are significant ongoing maintenance costs associated with edge grading and seal edge breaks.

The proposed widening will significantly improve the safety for road users including school buses by providing additional width and improving delineation. The additional width will ultimately reduce expensive ongoing maintenance issues on the road shoulder.

Total cost of proposed project is $1,581,281
