Project description

The existing gravel surface has significant numbers of heavy vehicles and frequently becomes eroded and rutted, requiring a heavier pavement and two coat bitumen seal.

Reuse and lime stabilisation of the existing gravel surface to form a subbase layer. A new 200mm thick manufactured HD gravel base will be constructed. A two coat 20/10 double/double bitumen seal will then be applied.

Total cost of proposed project is $1,955,356

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
