Project description

The Roadway has been severely Damaged and the drainage capacity is not sufficient. Additionally, the road width is not per Austroads standards.

The works will be divided into 2 stages and stage 1 shall be completed this year 2021-2022. Stage 1 consists of constructing road drainage and Relocating underground services. Stage 2 consists of Roadworks which include removing existing road seal and sub base and constructing new subgrade, subbase and road seal.

Total cost of proposed project is $3,241,610

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
