Project description

Cracking has occurred at many locations along the street and the road pavement surface is breaking up. The pavement has also lost shape with significant failures and requires full reconstruction to address failures and loss of shape and safety risk. Kerb and channel have subsided along the length of street and holds water in many locations. The kerb and channel require reconstruction and new drainage installed.

Works involve kerb and channel replacement, installation of new drainage and full width rehabilitation of road pavement and asphalt re-sheet to current standards.

Total cost of proposed project is $510,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
