Project description

The road has potholes and cracking and sections with poor crossfalls that cause water to pool on the surface.

Between Meerup Road and Mill No. 1 Road, reconstruct the road with suitable gravel including boxing out areas where the sub-grade is substandard. Construct a 8 metre wide pavement and place a 6 metre wide spray seal. For 1000 metres south of Mill No. 1 Road place a second coat spray seal.

Total cost of proposed project is $540,107

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
