Project description

Recent upgrade of the tip facility and the installation of a weighbridge at the entrance to the tip has created the need for extensive road widening for Heavy vehicle movement using the weighbridge facility. This work will allow a safe and usable weighbridge including entry into and exit out of the tip.

Widening of the existing approach to the weighbridge offering stacking for heavy vehicles, construction of a new section of road exiting the tip, applying a bitumen surface, applying traffic delineation and signage to offer safety and free flowing traffic lanes.

Total cost of proposed project is $254,355

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
