Project description
This project involves upgrades that will widen, strengthen, and realign various sections of the Eyre Highway, from Port Augusta out of Iron Head towards the Western Australian border. Package A includes approx. 400km of pavement works and approx. 46km of shoulder sealing. Package B includes intersection upgrades, two new overtaking lanes, three new rest areas, and additional safety works.
Benefits
This project will improve safety for all road users and increase network efficiency and connectivity.
Funding
The Australian Government is funding on an 80:20 ratio in conjunction with the SA Government.
Timetable
Construction commenced in early 2021 and is expected to be completed by mid-2024.
