Project description

The project is upgrading the intersection of Steve Irwin Way and Caloundra Street in Landsborough and in expected to provide traffic signals and modifying the intersection to include appropriate lane configuration and storage lengths, and provision of CCTV cameras.

Reduced congestion and improved travel times

Improved efficiency and network reliability

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $3.85 million towards this project.

Timetable

The project commenced construction in late 2024 and is expected to complete construction in mid 2026.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
