Project description

The project will progressively upgrade the Richmond - Winton Road via strengthening, widening, and sealing works along priority sections, thereby supporting local industry and tourism growth, enabling productivity and efficiency for road users, and increasing overall road safety. Richmond - Winton Road is a key strategic route supporting the economic development of local industries in Central-Western Queensland. Sections still experience serviceability gaps in pavement width, roughness and strength, and this project will improve heavy vehicle access in the region.

Benefits

Improved road safety for all users, efficiency and network reliability, and improved freight productivity.

Funding

Total funding of $13 million (Australian Government Contribution of up to $10.4 million, and Queensland Government contribution of up to $2.6 million).

Timetable

The project commenced construction May 2023 and is expected to be completed early 2026.
