Project description

Traffic volumes along The Broadway have grown considerably over the last 10 years as a result of urban development in Ellenbrook. As a result, the City has been duplicating sections of The Broadway in stages for a number of consecutive Financial Years, in order to address the growing traffic congestion on The Broadway.

This is the final stage of the currently planned duplication of The Broadway, which will see the existing two (2) lane single carriageway upgraded to a four (4) lane dual carriageway between Maffina Parade and Bordeaux Lane. The works will also involve the upgrade of the current single lane roundabouts at The Broadway/Maffina Parade and The Broadway/Bordeaux Lane to two (2) lane roundabouts, in order to accommodate the additional lanes that will be constructed.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
