Project description

This section of the road passes by the only general store and fuel bowser in Preston Beach. These facilities are very popular with visitors to the area. In particular off-road vehicle owners, who use the facilities to reinflate their tyres after driving on the beach. Resulting in banked up traffic lining up on both Mitchell Street and Panorama Drive. In addition to holiday makers cars and tour buses, who park in an ad hoc manner along the adjacent road verges, blocking the line of sight for oncoming traffic. increasing the risk to the large number of pedestrians coming across the roadways to access the general store. There are no directional controls in and out of the shops parking area, which has two exits. One driveway goes out onto Mitchell Road and one driveway goes onto Panorama Drive. It is also common for drivers travelling along Mitchell Road to be driving at speeds in excess of 50 kilometres an hour.

To install traffic calming and directional lines.

Total cost of proposed project is $37,010
