Project description

Elevation and alignment of intersection is not suitable for heavy vehicles exiting Konnongorring West Road safely onto Northam Pithara Road and poor and existing drainage is causing flooding issues.

Addressing road alignment to intersection of Konnongorring West Road and Northam Pithara Road to improve standing starts for heavy vehicles when exiting Konnongorring West Road onto Northam Pithara Road and realigning junction to improve vision along Northam Pithara Road when exiting Konnongorring West Road and reconstruct and improve drainage including the installation of new culvets to improve water flow on the Konnongorring West Road.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
