Project description

Cable Beach Road West consists of an undivided carriageway, with the width of approximately 10m from the edge of the seal. There is a t-junction at Murry Road and a roundabout at the Sanctuary Road intersection. The posted speed limit on Cable Beach Road West is currently 70km/h from Gubinge Road to Murray Road where it drops to 50km/h. Cable Beach Road West is classified as a Local Distributor and is the only access to the Cable Beach foreshore precinct and car parks. There is a limited number commercial access points on the road, including Divers Tavern, Cable Beach Resort and Zanders. The Cable Beach precinct is to be redeveloped which will increase the visitation to the tourist precinct. To be able to best accommodate this redevelopment an upgrade is required to maximise the recreational space of the precinct and improve functionality. There is also issues with the drainage network which concentrates from the at the Sanctuary Roundabout

As part of the first stage of redevelopment in the 23-24 financial year, it is proposed to upgrade the roundabout at Sanctuary Road and the associated stormwater infrastructure.

Total cost of proposed project is $1,356,000
