Project description

The overall condition of the road has been assessed as poor. Significant damage has been caused to the road foundation resulting in the cracking and potholing of pavement requiring a complete replacement.

This Project is to have a technical design completed for pavement type and hydrology for storm water flow, then associated road construction works in line with design

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
