Project description

The existing surface has reached the end of its serviceable life and displays varying defects including stripping, surface unevenness, cracking and pavement failure. Resurfacing this deteriorating road is required to ensure the functional condition of the roadway and preserve the life of the underlying pavement.

Mill and replace existing surface, approximately 3,370m2. Isolated pavement reconstruction, approximately 160m2. Isolated kerb and channel renewal, approximately 84m.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
