Project description

A recent site inspection and condition assessment indicated that the road is uneven; Kerb & channel are in dilapidated condition and need reconstruction. About 470m long kerb & channel and 2000sqm of roads need renewal as they are showing signs of failure. Vehicle crossovers damaged as well as some scraping of road pavement.

The work involves installing new kerb and channel, reconstructing failed pavement sections, installing underground drains, filling drainage trenches and constructing pavements, providing adequate drainage to the street and asphalt surfacing.

Total cost of proposed project is $760,576

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
