Project description

Wireless Road East has a posted speed limit of 80Kph, the existing width is very narrow (currently 2.5m min at places) and inconsistent. It poses risk to the traveling vehicles at the posted speed limit. the widening of the road travelling lane and shoulder reconstruction will help significantly reduce the risk to the commuting traffic on this road.

1.1K length of road widening to maintain a 3.5m wide travelling lane on both ways, and 1.5m wide shoulder reconstruction for safer commuting at the posted speed limit.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
