Project description

Is to address O&HS for road users/residents. The existing road is in poor condition and requires to be reconstructed. The road reconstruction project aligns with the OneHume strategic objective "3.2: Deliver responsible and transparent governance, services and sustainable assets that respond to community needs".

Works include constructing road pavement, kerb and channel and suitable roadside drainage as per EDCM standards at kerb return, tenants and low points.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
