Project description

Potholes along Lardil Street along with the absence of a functional pedestrian footpath are making the road unsafe for vehicles and pedestrians. Presently residents with wheelchairs or walkers are forced to use the road, (which has many potholes) as they can't navigate the dirt/gravel path off the road. The road potholes also cause vehicles to swerve to avoid them, which may put pedestrians at risk as vehicles are moving unpredictably. Council wish to install a pedestrian concrete pathway and repair existing potholes along the same stretch of road. Potholes will be filled with concrete not bitumen, as it will cost a minimum of $200,000 to get a bitumen team to Mornington Island. So the same substrate will be used for the pothole repairs as with the footpath replacement/construction, which is cost effective.

Create concrete walkway commencing at Lardil street / Kathan Kathan intersection ( 16°39'56.78"S, 139°10'51.86"E) to end of Lardil St ( 16°39'51.75"S, 139°11'19.66"E) total 870 m, filling at least 16 potholes along Lardil Street on same stretch of road.
