Project description

The road is a school bus route and it's surface is corrugated and potholed with vegetation on verges obscuring vision. Widening and improving surface rideability and drainage will provide a suitable and safe linkage for road users.

Complete vegetation management in selected areas to improve sightlines, reform the subgrade and gravel re-sheet to a thickness of 100 mm with imported material to give a running width of 8 metres and an overall width of 10 metres.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
