Project description

This section of road is in poor condition according to road assessment parameters and is scheduled for renewal/rehabilitation. In addition, kerb and channel and traffic control devices will be renewed to resolve drainage issues and scraping of vehicles at various sections.

The proposed scope of works include asphalt resurfacing and pavement patching together with reconstruction of kerb and channel and traffic control devices. As the project is partially funded by R2R, the remaining balance will be paid by the council.

Total cost of proposed project is $565,246

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
