Project description

Road is unsafe due to increased milk tanker heavy traffic servicing the local dairy industry and general farming activities causing water to pool on the road. Water cannot drain off the road due to ruts forming on the road pavement. Forms part of the infrastructure asset improvement plan for the Mount Schank locality.

Reconstruct and seal road 1,700 m metre section, 8 metres wide. Additional funding from Council reserves.

Total cost of proposed project is $270,025

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
