Project description

The 46 year old road seal and kerb is in a very poor condition being severely worn. The road has extensive cracking, stripping, edge break, potholes and patch repairs. The drainage is also in a very poor condition. The pipe capacity is too small causing localised flooding and property damage. There are blockages causes by root intrusion through the old butt joined pipes.

The road will be asphalt overlayed and the old kerb will be replaced. The existing drainage pits and pipes will be replaced. The cul-de-sac at will be reconstructed and will provide residents with a larger turning circle and improved drainage.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
