Project description

The work aims to address significant deficiencies in the current unsealed condition, which impacts safety and functionality as a Regionally Significant Freight Route. With only 1.5 km sealed, the remaining 12.5 km suffers from variable road quality and inadequate stormwater management, leading to flooding and hazards. The project includes extending the sealed section, implementing effective stormwater crossings, installing 950 m of guardrail for safety, and redesigning key intersections for better navigation. These enhancements will improve road safety, connectivity between Horrocks Highway and Thiele Highway, and overall infrastructure standards in the Kapunda region.

The proposed work addresses issues by fully sealing Bethel Road, enhancing drainage, installing guardrails, and improving intersections. With pavement works, including underground stormwater crossings, and sealing now complete, the project has reached practical completion. These upgrades align Bethel Road with regional transport standards and enhance freight efficiency by improving safety, surface quality, and road clarity. The balance of funds for the project will be provided by Light Regional Council.

Total cost of proposed project is $1,800,000
