Project description

Increased traffic and the requirement for larger vehicles have exceeded the current maintenance service levels. Recent audits indicate that Billiatt Road is approaching the end of its seal life and will require a complete reseal within the next 2 to 5 years.

The proposed work involves widening the shoulders over 10 km to increase the road width from 6.4 metres to a minimum of 7.6 metres. The wider road with built-up shoulders will offer safer overtaking opportunities and improved travel conditions, enhancing safety for tourism vehicles interacting with heavier traffic. Balance of project costs being covered by Loxton Waikerie Council.

Total cost of proposed project is $1,493,000
