Project description

The section of road has reached the end of its useful life and is experiencing several types of distress such as crocodile cracking, ravelling, shoving, corrugation, potholing, and more.

Broken Hill City Council will contribute $561,428 of council funds to the project. The scope of work of reconstructing Wolfram Street from Oxide Street to Iodide Street will include the following: • Removing of the exiting pavement surface and kerbing • Excavation and earth work • Pavement construction • Subgrade preparation, and proof roll • Applying the first layer of road base, proof roll and survey verification followed by quality testing • Construction of kerb and gutter, dish crossing and kerb ramps • Supply and place second road base layer, followed by survey verification and quality testing • Adjustment of existing service pits and utility structures • Apply the emulsion followed by Hot Mix Asphalt work • Installation of new linemarking • Restoration of any disturbed nature strips or footpaths • Traffic management during construction
