Project description

There is lack of good rubble on the carriageway. Trees are encroaching on the road width and surface is very rough and potholed. Hill crest require ripping. Side drains not functioning properly.

Vegetation will be trimmed. Clean and create drains and rip hills. Sheet with introduced crushed limestone rubble and pull stones in to the road from shoulders. Water crushed rubble and compact, reforming surface during construction.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
