Project description

The road consists of pavement and road surface failure and degraded kerb and water table that results in ponding of stormwater.

The works will include new kerbing on both sides of the road to facilitate drainage, deep lift pavement rehabilitation in identified locations and a surface reseal for the entire road length. The project is to be jointly funded by the City of Unley and RTR. City of Unley contribution is $1,005,247 RTR contribution is $494,753 Total Project costs of $1,500,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
