Project description

Existing sealed road experiencing widespread significant seal and pavement failures which previous isolated patching and resurfacing treatments have failed to address.

Full width sealed pavement and shoulder rehabilitation, using deep lift lime and cement stabilisation treatments along with new pavement material depth and an initial seal reinstatement. Joint funding received from the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) program - Phase 4 - Part B

Total cost of proposed project is $594,070

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
