Project description

Patterson's Road is a curved, narrow road on a floodplain a combination of poor alignment, flooding and the road environment (trees, hill crests etc.) poses significant safety risks. Pavement damage including shoves, bleeding and potholes add to the safety concerns in this location. The project rectifies these issues.

Two Stages of works including 24-25 financial year totalling 1.7 km of works and 25-26 financial year totalling 0.85 km of works. The project includes widening to 7 m seal minimum, reshaping table drain, traffic control, lime stabilization of sub-base to a depth of 250 mm, addition of 120 mm of thick base layer comprising of DGS/DGB material and a 14 mm/7 mm double coat sealed wearing course.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
