Project description

Rectification of drainage issues within sub-catchments in the township along the route proposed and additional streets within the area.

Construction of a 1050 mm pipeline from Burraway Street on the grade per the design to the outlet at the river bank of the Macquarie River. The proposed work is split funded between RTR ($500,000) and Resources for Regions Round 9 ($2,000,000)

Total cost of proposed project is $2,900,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
