Project description

Worn out asphalt surface (cracked and ravelled), cracked kerbing, damaged pram ramps and crossovers, drainage improvements, traffic control, and parking improvements.

Asphalt overlay with new kerbing and drainage and traffic management improvements as required. Length 590 m x width 6 m. Project will be partially funded by Roads to Recovery and remaining project cost will be funded with own source funding.

Total cost of proposed project is $275,073

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
