Project description

Parkes Street is a local road in a poor condition, with unsealed shoulders, and a missing section of kern and guttering. There are multiple pavement failures, unsealed shoulders, and ponding issues along the approximately 230 m long stretch of road.

Reconstruction of the pavement between Charles Street and Zouch Street, shoulder sealing, and installation of new kerb and guttering. Council will be funding the balance between the overall cost of the works and RTR's contribution.

Total cost of proposed project is $538,200

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
