Project description

The project will upgrade and widen priority sections of the Kennedy Developmental Road between Winton and Boulia. The project will undertake planning to upgrade future sections along the Kennedy Development Road which forms part of the Outback Way.

Benefits

The project will improve safety and provide all weather access for motorists, freight operators and tourists on priority sections of the Outback Way and improve supply chain resilience across Central and North Queensland.

Funding

The Australian Government is contributing $27.26 million and the Queensland Government $6.82 million towards the $34.08 million project.

Timetable

Construction is expected to commence in mid 2026 and be completed in late 2028.
