Project description

The Melton Line Upgrade project will deliver additional platforms at Melton Station and lengthen platforms at Cobblebank, Rockbank, Caroline Springs and Deer Park stations to enable longer nine-car VLocity trains to run on the Melton line. To facilitate the upgrades, a new stabling facility will be constructed at Cobblebank.

Benefits

The project will support connectivity in the region by increasing capacity on the Melton line by 50?per?cent to meet the demand of the growing population, reducing crowding on busy services. These upgrades will better support the ability for communities in the western suburbs to commute to and from Melbourne.

Funding

The Australian and Victorian Governments have committed $325 million each towards the project.

Timetable

Delivery is expected to commence in early 2026 with an estimated completion date in late 2027.
