The Wanneroo Road and Hepburn Avenue Grade Separation project involves upgrading the intersection to improve traffic flow and safety. The works include constructing a grade-separated interchange, which will allow vehicles on Wanneroo Road to pass over Hepburn Avenue without stopping at traffic lights. This design reduces congestion, shortens travel times, and enhances connectivity for commuters and freight. The project is part of a broader effort to improve road efficiency in Perth’s northern suburbs.

The grade separation will significantly reduce congestion at the intersection, improving travel times for all road users. It will enhance safety by removing the need for vehicles to cross opposing traffic streams. The upgrade will also improve network reliability and support better freight movement through the area. These benefits contribute to a more efficient and connected road system in Perth’s northern suburbs.

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $70 million to this $140 million initiative.

Timetable

Planning works have commenced with construction works expected to begin in 2028-29.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
