Project description

Concrete kerbing on edge of road is over 40 years old. It’s damaged and missing in sections. The poor condition of kerbing causes surface water to not be channelled into correct drainage systems, instead running off the edge of the road, eroding the edges and reducing the useful life of the pavement and seal, in turn creating a hazard for road users.

Removal of remaining concrete and replacement with Main Roads Western Australia standard Semi-mountable concrete kerbing.

Total cost of proposed project is $49,883

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
