Project description

Due to a significant increase in commercial vehicle traffic, the road pavement condition has deteriorated with the surface being dilapidated, requiring rehabilitation. Removal of existing asphalt layer, rehabilitation works to strengthen the base and sub-base, widening on some sections, drainage works and re-sheeting the entire road segment with new asphalt layer. This project commenced in September 2023. Cost for works performed during Financial Year 2023-2024 ($657,810) will be absorbed by Yarra Ranges Council; costs of works to be performed in Financial Year 2024/2025 to be funded from R2R allocation ($1,866,214), balance of costs incurred into in Financial Year 2024-2025 to be borne by Council ($49,576)

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
