Project description

This section of road presents a significant amount of vehicles driving through as well as parking for nearby businesses and visitors. Its current configuration presents conditions for unsafe traffic movements for both vehicles passing by as well as those looking for parking.

Upgrade and alterations to the kerb and channel, drainage, relocation of three trees, line marking parking bays to increase widths, green-coloured pavement surface treatment, installation of Keep Clear and turning arrows

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
