Project description

Failure of existing kerb and channel, seal and pavement in built up area. Storm water is unable to effectively get away from site and is damaging the road base and surface. Footpath is in poor repair and requires upgrade to current standards.

Rip up existing kerb and channel, seal and pavement. Reconstruct pavement and seal including kerb and channel and stormwater drainage to allow for water to be effectively removed from site without causing damage to road surface. New footpath to current standard to be constructed.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
