Project description

The current road has significant pavement damage including edge breakaway and potholing. This is being caused by the narrow roadway and cars passing, having to move off the seal and therefore causing breakage. As the seal is breaking away, this is causing excess dirt and dust on the roads.

Rehabilitate and widen approximately 110 m of Road 1. Rehabilitation consists of seal removal, ripping existing road pavement, mixing and top up as required, to achieve the typical road requirements.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
