Project description

Problem being addressed is that there is steep and dangerous drop off into a water hole that has no current installed safety fencing, guardrail or K&G protecting the public and road traffic. The existing culvert needs extended so that there is a proper road pavement and room to establish the safety fencing, guardrail and K&G as well as properly repair/replace the pavement sourrounding the Road intersection corner. Work proposed is to extend the culvert install, install new safety fencing, kerb and gutter around the corner and guardrail.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
