Poor condition pavement and seal, road beyond maintenance and requires rehabilitation.

Pavement rehabilitation and sealing, including sealed shoulder, drainage improvements, and road safety improvements. May include native vegetation removal and/or new guard rail installation for vegetation impact minimisation and road safety. Out of the total project cost o $1315959 - the project will be jointly funded by council.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
