Project description

Surface of road has worn with clay appearing making road a hazard when wet as it becomes slippery and boggy. High use road, school bus route and heavy vehicle route.

To resurface the road with a quarry rubble mix. It will be applied 8 metres wide and 0.15 metres thick when compacted. This involves raising and crushing material internally, carting to site with trucks, spreading and levelling with graders and compacting with rollers. Will include replacement of drainage pipes where required

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
