Project description

Rawsonville Road currently has difficulty accommodating increased traffic loadings and is subsequently in poor condition. Rawsonville Road also has height issues contributing to poor drainage, ponding, and localised flooding. The road requires additional height to ensure adequate drainage.

The proposed work includes strengthening the existing road pavement with 100mm gravel overlay, and a sealing with a two-coat seal. The length of the road being treated is 1.8km long and 6m wide.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
