Project description

Deterioration of the pavement due to age of a section of a Local Distributor Road leading to a major intersection. Pavement undulation, seal cracking and minor areas of rutting beginning to become noticeable.

Pre-works in 2025/26 ahead of construction in 2026/27 for the rehabilitation of the deteriorating pavement. The additional funding is coming from the South West Regional Road Group (RRG).

Total cost of proposed project is $369,899

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
