Project description

Structural cracking, rutting and patching is in need of replacement, which is likely caused by the failure of the base course.

Road reconstruction, including removing approximately 200 mm of base course, replacement with bitumen stabilised base material, kerb replacement, and final wearing course replacement 40 mm of dense grade asphalt. Balance of project funding from Main Roads WA.

Total cost of proposed project is $360,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
