Project description

This section of Truganina Road scored a surface condition rating of 2.68 out of 5 (with 5 being very poor) in the 2020 condition survey. Recent visual inspections note that road has deteriorated since the condition survey noting extensive patching and cracking along the extents due to heavy vehicle traffic in industrial area and multiple maintenance work requests. Rehabilitation is required to rectify.

In situ foamed bitumen stabilisation to a depth of 270 mm, profile off top 40 mm material, apply 7 mm granite primer seal, and lay 40 mm new asphalt concrete wearing.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
